In 2009, Argento brought game-changing composer Beat Furrer to New York audiences for the very first time. Argento is thrilled to once again present premieres of his music to the public. The 2014 Great Austrian State Prize winner belongs to a select line of European composers who are equally at home in both instrumental and theatrical operatic genres. Our programming highlights Beat Furrer's exploration of the human voice and instrumental sounds: a WORLD PREMIERE featuring soprano Tony Arnold and trombonist Tim Albright; two electrifying works for chamber ensemble; and a dramatic work for large chamber orchestra, narrated by the composer himself.
