Other Info | THU—6-18-2016—8 PM Pre-concert talk—7:30 PM $20 The final concert in the Nørgård in New York series explores the composer’s fascination with the natural world in works for large ensembles that incorporate the physical and aural aspects of nature. The highlight of the concert is the U.S. Premiere of Nørgård’s major chamber symphony Night-Symphonies, Day Breaks. The evening’s program also includes the recent percussion concerto Three Scenes; Prelude and Ant Fugue, a delirious deconstruction of Bach’s C Major Prelude; Prelude to Breaking, a study in the harmony of waves; and the gorgeous Nova Genitura with soprano Sarah Joy Miller, perhaps the most beautiful piece in Nørgård’s entire body of work. The concert features performances by the Lost Dog New Music Ensemble, soprano Sarah Joy Miller, and percussionist Neeraj Mehta. |
