Old Westbury, NY – 09/19/15 – Old Westbury Gardens – Poetica Musica- American Pie

On Saturday September 19, 2015 at 8:00 pm., Old Westbury Gardens will present a concert entitled “American Pie” with the chamber music ensemble, Poetica Musica, Artists-in-Residence at Old Westbury Gardens. Performers will include Eleanor Valkenburg, soprano, Oren Fader, guitar, Molly Morkoski, piano, Jessica Han, flute, and Jessica Bowers, mezzo soprano. The concert will take place in the Red Ballroom of Westbury House. The ensemble will perform works by Gershwin, Weill, Copland, Salerni, and more. A pre-concert lecture will be conducted at 7:30 PM. A Guided Tour of the House will be conducted at 6:45 pm. A Meet-the Artists reception will follow the concert.

The concert is a fun and whimsical event with traditional and new works featuring 19th C. Vaudeville Songs, a flute sonata by Aaron Copland, Gershwin songs arranged for solo guitar, songs by Kurt Weill, and the New York premiere of the extremely witty
“Bad Pets” by Paul Salerni, a song cycle for voice, flute, and guitar.
